Continuous Professional Development

Continuous Professional Development is integral to Yarrow Schools Alliance’s vision of excellence. Working together as an Alliance to identify need across our schools, each year we put together a programme of professional development that is relevant, robust and effective. Courses are delivered by Lancashire's Numeracy and Literacy teams who have a wealth of experience, both within the area and nationally and other renowned educational speakers.

Currently, courses are free to core Alliance members and carry a nominal fee for satellite members. Courses are advertised both on the Alliance’s monthly newsletter and on the YSA website, along with details of how to register and reserve a place.

Alliance members are encouraged to organise INSET training days on the first Monday after October half term, and on the first Thursday of May in order that they can participate in Cross Alliance training - a chance not just to hear great speakers but to mix with colleagues from other schools and build lasting relationships.

  • Courses are held at St George's CE Primary School, Chorley or Mossy Lea Community Primary School, Wrightington. When not possible, training is held virtually on electronic platforms.
  • If you wish to take part in the training and are unsure if your school is eligible, ring our office on 01257 262323

Each year, based on conversations with our Core Alliance Members, CPD training is focussed around a number of key, local needs.
